Together Toward Peace
People of Ahimsa wish to build bridges of understanding between ordinary Ukrainians and Russians.
We devote ourselves to deconditioning our minds from the enemy images of each other that the military propaganda has created.
We commit to freeing ourselves from dehumanizing language and all ideologies that support military aggression, invasion, and violent means of achieving political goals.
We aspire to educate and support ourselves and others in the process of healing from the trauma of war, loss, forced displacement, and related emotional and practical struggles.
We wish to work with civil society members of both countries who want the military aggression of Russia against Ukraine to stop and the process of reconciliation to begin.
We envision social, cultural, and political relations between Ukrainian and Russian people based on safety and security, mutual respect and understanding, freedom, as well as lasting and just peace.
We choose to contribute today to the future where the harmonious co-existence of Ukraine and Russia as two neighboring nations with a shared history is possible.

Peace Advocacy & Education
People of Ahimsa are passionate about education and see it as a main tool for individual transformation and social evolution. We will be publishing educational materials that can help us learn together about Nonviolent Communication, Conflict Transformation, Restorative Justice, Reconciliation Practices, Nuclear Abolitionism, and other related topics.

Community Support & Sharing Circles
Long periods of large-scale violence and military actions create deep pain and trauma that can last for generations. Regularly coming together in community circles and openly sharing our experiences in safe environments can support us in going through the healing process, recovering our human dignity, and recognizing our shared humanity.

Civil Society Empowerment
In our understanding, it is impossible to find a way out of the state of war without the active engagement of civil society both in Ukraine and Russia. For this reason, we support open and respectful conversations between all factions of Ukrainian and Russian society in the constructive pursuit of connection and solutions that can bring the war in Ukraine to an end.
